Race Watch: Mladenovic vaults into Top 8

After her run into the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final, Kristina Mladenovic roared into the Top 8 on Porsche Race to Singapore leaderboard; who else made big moves in Stuttgart.

A mere points from her second title of 2017, Kristina Mladenovic still took plenty of good things from her stellar week at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.

"I can be only proud of the event, take all the positives of the entire week," she said after the final. "I think it’s one of the strongest events. You know in one week, you play a match ever day against the best players and I did lots of great things, especially for my first tournament on clay."

The Frenchwoman is in the midst of a career-best season, which has helped her rise up four spots into the Top 8 of the Porsche Race To Singapore leaderboard for the first time this year at No.7.

"I'm very happy. I you had told me that I would make the finals when I arrived from Fed Cup being already a little bit tired and twisting my ankle on Court No.1, when I fell down and I felt that I had to retire, you tell me that I would make the finals with having all those great matches, I definitely wouldn‘t have believed you!

"So, it’s very positive. I’m happy about the way I’m playing and hopefully I can continue the season in that way."

Mladenovic has twice qualified for Singapore in doubles, reaching the semifinals last year with former partner Caroline Garcia, but will be aiming to make her singles debut at the end of the season.

Who else moved up on the PRTS this week?

Laura Siegemund (+53, No.73 to No.20): Siegemund made the biggest leap of the week after taking home the biggest title of her career in Stuttgart, knocking out three Top 10 players - Svetlana Kuznetsova, Karolina Pliskova, and Simona Halep - before outlasting Mladenovic in the final.

Elina Svitolina (+1, No.7 to No.6): Svitolina further cemented her place among the Elite Eight after winning a tour-leading third title of the season at the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup, her second career title on clay and seventh overall.
