SPORTCARES FOUNDATION

OFFICIAL SOCIAL CAUSE

Changing Lives Through Sport

SportCares Foundation (SportCares) is at the heart of a growing national movement to use sport for social good. In partnership with corporates and community groups, SportCares has organised programmes and projects that have touched the lives of more than 9,000 children, youth and adults.  While each programme has its unique characteristics, SportCares’ mission has never varied: to activate sport for social inclusion, personal empowerment and community bridging.

Since June 2014, SportCares has run the Love Singapore girls tennis programme that empowers at-risk girls with confidence and physical and mental capabilities for life. Through the unyielding support of partners like the United States Embassy in Singapore and the Women’s Tennis Association, SportCares is able to provide meaningful and enriching experiences through sport that foster friendships, bridge communities and build resilient families.

As an Official Social Cause of the WTA Finals, the Love Singapore girls and their families are also able to experience court time with some of the best women’s tennis players in the world, through specially organised clinics as well as meet-and-greet sessions. These sessions have included meetings with fan-favourites Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza and Eugenie Bouchard, rising star Shelby Rogers, and Doubles players Abigail Spears and Raquel Atawo.

During the 2015 tournament, Venus Williams shared an inspirational chat with youth volunteers from across SportCares programmes. The children and youth from SportCares programmes continue to be inspired to live better through sport, through the amazing event of the WTA Finals.
